Can I apply for residence card via post?

You can, but as much as possible don’t do it.

  • You won’t receive any stamp in your passport that your TRC application is in process

  • The whole process will take much longer than standard one - you may be stuck in Poland for more than a year

  • You will have to go to the office one more time to show your passport and leave your fingerprints

  • Documents sent via post get lost from time to time and you are forced to start all over again.

It’s the last resort if you didn’t manage to secure an appointment and your Visa is about to expire.

I’m a student. How much money in the bank account do I need to get a TRC?

There is no fixed amount - it’s different case by case. If you are a first year student and it is your first TRC, the immigration office needs to see that you have funds for: 3 semesters of tuition fee, 15 months of accommodation, 15 months of allowance (776 pln), ticket back home. If you’ve paid your tuition fee already and overpaid for a couple of months of your accommodation, then the total amount will be reduced by this number of months/semesters.

Can I show a statement from my parents’ bank account?

No, the bank account needs to be registered on your name and in Poland.

Do I need to have funds in my bank account in PLN?

No, you can show it in other currencies, as long as after calculating the conversion to PLN the amount will be still sufficient.

What are the most common reasons for refusal of TRC for students?

Majority of cases is insufficient funds in the bank account, missing documents when applying, errors in the application form.

Which medical insurance is accepted by the immigration?

Any medical insurance that will cover hospital and ambulatory fees - most of the people decide on standard traveler’s insurance. We suggest getting it from one of the Polish insurance companies. Otherwise immigration office expects you to deliver translated (by sworn translator) insurance policy, which is an unnecessary cost.

When is the best time to Apply for TRC?

We suggest at least 6-7 months before your visa expires , so the new one will be received by the time your visa lapses. That way you’re not stuck here while your application is in process.

Can I travel after applying and before I receive my TRC?

As long as your Polish visa is still valid - yes. If it has expired already you won’t be let back into the country.

My visa expired already, can I still apply for trc?

Sadly no. You can apply only when your Visa is valid. Now you have to come back to your country and apply for Visa again.

  • Succeeding will be 3 years, but may depend on length of your studies or how your contract with your employer is constructed. If you have 2 years left on your contract, then your TRC will be issued for 2 years
